Lorreen R. Pryor

President

Lorreen Pryor serves as Committee Secretary for the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee. Prior to her Presidency, Lorreen served 2 years as Vice President of Northern California Recruitment & Participation with BYLP and 3 years as Project Consultant for AAYLP’s (African American Youth Leadership Program) week long summer program advising on various project management elements. She has previously worked with the Sacramento Assessment Center, and several other group homes within the Sacramento area as well as conducting community outreach events as a radio personality with KBMB 103.5 “The Bomb”.

In 2004, Lorreen was awarded by Sacramento State’s Cooper-Woodson College for being an exemplary Leader, Scholar & Community Servant. She has more recently conducted a 6-week after school program for high school students focused on developing communication skills for healthy relationships and serves as co-advisor for the Black Student Union at a local high school. Lorreen holds a B.A. in Communications Studies with an emphasis in Media Communication from CSU, Sacramento.

Jovan Agee

Vice President, Fundraising

Jovan Agee serves as the youngest Political and Legislative Director ever, for United Domestic Workers of America (UDWA), a seventy-nine year old organization representing 65,000 homecare providers throughout California. As Political and Legislative Director, Jovan is responsible for building strategic relationships and innovative partnerships.

Lobbyist by training, Jovan received a B.A. in Government from CSU, Sacramento in 2004. He served for one year as a Legislative Intern with AFSCME, a 1.6 million-member International Union, prior to becoming the Political and Legislative Director for UDWA in 2005.

Shannon McKinley

Vice President, Programs

Shannon McKinley serves as Consultant and Policy Advisor for Assemblymember Sandré Swanson working on issues related to banking & finance, education, health as well as labor & transportation. She is also the Co-Founder of the California Capitol Black Staff Association and a former New Leaders Council Fellow.

A Bay Area native, born in San Francisco and raised in the East Bay, Shannon graduated from CSU, San Francisco in 2004 with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Psychology. In 2007, Shannon earned a Master’s Degree in Government from CSU, Sacramento.

Rory Kaufman

Vice President, Recruitment

Rory Kaufman serves as Consultant to the Speaker’s Office of Member Services. Prior to serving with the State Assembly, he is a former Street Counselor, City & County Commissioner, Teacher, Radio D.J., Urban Affairs Consultant, County Deputy, Chair of the California Exposition & State Fair’s Cultural Advisory Council and proud member of the United States Armed Forces.

Rory has served 4 years as Vice President of Southern California Recruitment & Participation with BYLP, is the 2nd Vice President of the Sacramento Branch of the NAACP and a distinguished member of Phi Beta Sigma.

Dia Poole

Member At Large

Dia Poole serves as the Communications Liaison for the Judicial Council of California’s Administrative Office of the Courts, Office of Governmental Affairs. She oversees judicial, legislative and executive branch communications and outreach programs. Dia has worked for all branches of government in the State of California, with over 30 years of public service at the county and state levels.

Dia has a passion for higher education and community service exemplified by her dedication to the California State University Alumni Council where she has held several leadership offices, including vice president of governmental relations and council secretary and as a founding member of BYLP. Dia has been a long-time member of the CSU San Bernardino Alumni Association, best recognized in 2008, when she was named CSU San Bernardino’s Alumni Advocate of the Year

Janus Norman

Member At Large

Janus Norman serves as the California Political and Legislative Advocate for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO (AFSCME), the nation's largest public sector employee union. As an advocate, Janus is responsible for implementing and overseeing a legislative agenda aimed at improving the lives of working people.

Prior to joining AFSCME, he was a Senior Governmental Affairs Analyst for the Judicial Council of California, a Senior Consultant to the California State Assembly Committee on Budget and a Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellow. Janus holds a B.A. in Communications Studies from CSU, Sacramento


Kip Randall

Member At Large

Kip Randall serves as Special Projects Consultant with the Senate Rules Committee. He previously served as the first Black Reading Secretary in the California State Senate. Kip holds a B.A in Political Science from the University of the Pacific.
