LEGISLATIVE OPEN HOUSE

13TH ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE OPEN HOUSE

Since its first class of “Legislators” , BYLP’s Legislative Open House has always been a highly anticipated event, partly due to the valuable experiential learning that occurs paired with the Capitol access that’s provided to only some of the most special of outside visitors. Some students attending the Legislative Open House will be stepping foot into the Capitol Building for the first time ever.

BYLP's Legislative Open House is open to high school students from throughout California. This year's program will take place March 2, 2012 from 8AM-5PM. Students have a unique opportunity to visit the state Capitol to learn firsthand about the legislative process through mock committee hearings in the State Capitol and in a mock session on the floor of the State Assembly, as well as being able to have personal interaction with state legislators and legislative staff. Students are also presented with valuable information about college and professional careers.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Potential candidates for participation will first need to complete the application process in order to be considered for the program.

Please note that BYLP has a rolling admissions policy – applications are reviewed as they are received. This means that it is important to apply early within the few months before the program, as students who wait too late may find themselves placed on the wait list prior to the stated submission deadline.

PLEASE NOTE: applications are considered complete only if all sections are answered.
