Learn How Referrals Work
How Students Access BYLP Support Networks by Referral
Support Networks provide additional skill-building and peer circles for BYLP-connected youth who have already been engaged in BYLP advocacy services.
Referral Pathways
Students are connected to Support Networks through BYLP advocacy services or community partner organizations.
1
Screening & Fit
BYLP staff review readiness and determine if peer-based supports align with the student needs, availability, and program capacity.
2
Capacity & Invitation
When capacity allows, eligibility students are invited to participate in Support Networks by referral only.
3
Important Referral Notes
-
Student referrals do not guarantee placement.
-
Capacity is limited and prioritized based on student needs.
-
There is no cost to students, participation is based on available funding.
-
Support Networks supplement school and community resources, they are not clinical services.
-
Support Networks do not replace:
-
School-based counseling
-
Special education services
-
Mental health treatment
-
Academic tutoring
-
BYLP Support Networks focus on development, connection, and peer engagement.
Already Connect to BYLP?
If your student is currently receiving BYLP advocacy support or participating in another BYLP program, eligibility for Support Networks may be discussed as appropriate.
Support Network participation is determined by BYLP staff based on readiness, fit, and capacity.
For Schools & Community Partners
Schools and community organizations interested in learning more about referral pathways may contact BYLP to discuss partnership opportunities.

Support Networks are offered as part of BYLP’s broader youth support ecosystem and are not standalone services.
BYLP is committed to creating safe, structured spaces that support student growth while maintaining clear boundaries that protect students, families, and staff.
