EVENT OVERVIEW

BYLP’s Celebration Weekend 2026 is a three-day, community-centered experience honoring the academic excellence of Black students from preschool through post-secondary education.

Designed to uplift, inspire, and bring together generations, Celebration Weekend creates joyful, affirming spaces for students, families, alumni, educators, and community supporters to celebrate both the journey and the achievement.

This weekend is about recognition, pride, and collective joy — honoring what it took to get here and empowering what comes next.

FRIDAY | SOIREE: THE KICKBACK

PURPOSE

An informal evening to welcome guests, reconnect community, and kick off Celebration Weekend.

AUDIENCE

High school & college students, alumni, BYLP staff, supporters, and invited guests.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • DJ & music

  • Lounge seating and fire pits

  • Oversized lawn games

  • On-site Black-owned food truck offering casual bites and beverages

SATURDAY | FAMILY DAY PICNIC

PURPOSE

A joyful, family-centered day celebrating student milestones while connecting families to community resources.

AUDIENCE

Students of all ages, families, educators, youth partners, and community members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lawn games

  • Snow cones

  • DJ & music

  • Catered BBQ, picnic snacks, and drinks

SUNDAY | GRADUATION CEREMONY

PURPOSE

A formal ceremony honoring the accomplishments of Black students across all educational levels — from preschool to post-secondary.

AUDIENCE

Registered graduates and their families, educators, community leaders, and supporters.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Formal graduation ceremony

  • Recognition of graduates by educational level

  • Certificates and medals

  • Heavy hors d’oeuvres reception following the ceremony for youth
